Video Transcript for Improving Your Online Course (QM)

Hello and welcome to the Improving Your Online Course training which is offered through Quality Matters, a globally recognized organization offering professional development training. My name is <your name here> and I am a Quality Matters Certified Facilitator and the facilitator for this course. <type 2-3 sentences about yourself, your campus role, experience using/teaching CSU QM/campus classes>

The course is offered in a 3-week format and you will engage with eight modules in the course and complete a QM self-review along the 23 essential standards. Completion of the QM self-review will serve to help you identify areas of your course to improve on and help you to develop a course improvement plan. You must already have a pre-developed online course as you will be using your own online course to complete course activities.

Topics in the course include sharing and reflecting on various course components for peer feedback including: your course overview module, sharing one module and alignment components, sharing course level and module level objectives, and sharing your course grading policy. Additionally, you will be sharing the type of instructor and peer interactions in your course and the tools you will use for interacting with students, along with stating the relationship between your learning objectives and course activities which is commonly done with a course map. You will also complete a scavenger hunt of your learner support resources and see how you can add more learner support information into your course and post a video showing your course navigation for peer feedback. Lastly, In the last module you will also be submitting your QM Self-Review of the 23 Essential Standards and your course improvement plan.

Keep in mind that while this course is self-paced, QM’s policy is firm in that you must complete Modules 1-5 by mid/late week 2 or you will not be allowed to continue in the workshop  as it is important to follow the course schedule as peer-to-peer collaboration is integral to your success and satisfaction in the course. I look forward to working alongside you as your facilitator as we build a community of sharing and learning together .
